OUR ETHOS

serena.PNG

Our ethos is 'person centred' and we pride ourselves on getting to really know our residents.

Many of our staff have been with us for a number of years and every one of them, whatever their individual role, is committed to ensuring the people they care for feel loved and looked after as well as occupied and entertained.

FACILITIES AND ACTIVITIES

we will always make sure that the room a resident occupies is suitable for their needs in terms of size, location, layout and equipment.

We have a lovely garden with a large covered seating area so that our residents can enjoy the outdoors.  In the summer we have a garden party with musical entertainment and a picnic with Pimms and bunting. Friends and family are welcome and it is a highlight of the year at Burlington.

We have a comprehensive activities programme and details of the months to come can be seen on our activities page along with the menus for the next few weeks.

OUR PEOPLE

Our comprehensive care staffing is led by the manager, Margaret Willson.   A registered nurse is always on duty to see that everything runs smoothly.

We also have Senior Care Assistants & Care Assistants constantly covering the 24 hour period in the nursing home.

On occasions volunteers will come into the building to help out with activities and to spend time with the residents for quality time.  Our Activities coordinator  organizes group activities, individual outings and pampering manicures. Meanwhile, our dedicated and fully-equipped salon hosts a hairdresser every week.

All our meals are freshly prepared by our chef and kitchen assistants.  Our chef has been with Burlington for many years. With input from residents, the chef and team produce seasonal menus built around our daily supplies from the local green grocer and butcher. Every Sunday is roast day and on Saturdays Fish and Chips arrive piping hot from the local chip shop. We cater to special dietary needs, likes and dislikes, and we make sure in conjunction with the dietitians that all our meals are nutritionally sound.

We have a Head of Housekeeping and Laundry, supported by a highly dedicated cleaning team that keep our home positively gleaming, our handyman  can fix almost anything and is in charge of maintenance. He's also always on hand to help put up pictures and shelves, and to decorate rooms to residents’ individual tastes and preferences. Our Administrator in the Office keeps the admin wheels turning.

Owner Carey Jamieson has a long experience and background in health and social care. She is always happy to help navigate through the complex financial issues involved in accessing sources of funding for care. Carey and Maggie have excellent contacts with their colleagues in social services, St. Richard's Hospital, Bognor War Memorial Hospital and GP surgeries, as well as a wide range of other professionals such as podiatrists, dietitians and speech and language therapists.
